1. Bridge with Camera Raw 16.3.1 outputs .xmp files instead of embedding keywords

   Issue:

   My usual workflow is to use Bridge to add embedded keywords to JPG files.

   After updating Camera Raw to 16.3.1 this same workflow generates .xmp sidecar files instead of embedding the metadata.

   However, this is not consistent, with some JPG files accepting embedded metadata and some not.

   Suspecting Camera Raw, I installed version 16.0 which allowed the keywords to be embedded as required.

   (Bridge 14.1.0; macOS 14.5 (23F79), M2)

   Notes:

   The only difference between the files for which embedding worked and those for which it failed is that the failing files were output from PSDs which included a layer with small amount of AI generated content. This may or may not be a factor.

   I looked for a way to download the previous 16.x version but in the end had to make a support call, and after 30. minutes on hold and another half-hour over a very poor line, I was sent a link to the v16.0 download.

   Thanks to the support worker, but no thanks to Adobe for a wasted day and a late delivery to my client.

2. Thumbnails not visible for all .EPS files

   Observed if the size of .EPS file is small (less than 1 MB) - it is not showing its thumbnail.

3. Generate Monitor-Size Previews: Wrong size generated

   Bridge will usually generate previews with the wrong size when "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" has been enabled (checked). I would guess that this bug has been present for a while.

   The setting can be found here: Preferences -> Advanced -> Generate Monitor-Size Previews

   On my system (see below), I have a monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. When "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" is not checked, Bridge generates preview files with a pixel width of 2048 pixels in this cache folder (2048 seems to be the default size):

   C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge\Cache\v36\1024...

   Then, when checking "Generate Monitor-Size Previews", I see preview files with a width of 2560 pixels for new files, which may be the expected width (but see note below *).

   However, with "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" still checked, I exit Bridge, then starts Bridge again, then I double check that "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" is still set in Preferences (which it is). I then let Bridge generate new previews.

   => Now I notice that even if "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" is checked, Bridge reverts back to generating previews with a width of 2048 pixels!

   => It turns out that in order to get Bridge to generate the "correct" preview size (2560 pixels in my case), I must, each time I start Bridge, go into Preferences and then turn "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" off and then on again to get the correct preview size for new images. The preference setting only takes effect while Bridge keeps running.

   This is maybe a minor bug (the previews gets a little blurry though), but one may wonder if this "ignoring" of preference settings may also happen for other settings?

   *) Note:
   I note that for 3:2 images the preview files are 2560 x 1707 pixels in size when "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" is working. This means that the preview files have a height that is larger than the height of my 16:9 monitor (2560 x 1440 pixels). I guess that when checking "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" the 3:2 preview files on my system really should have been something like 2160 x 1440 pixels?

   Before running the tests described above, I did the following:

   1) Deleted the Bridge cache (Bridge then automatically builds a new empty cache when started).
   2) Cleared Bridge preferences (Ctrl+Alt+Shift on startup)
   3) Uninstall Bridge
   4) Install the latest version of Bridge (14.0.4.222)

   Adobe Bridge Version: 14.0.4.222

   Windows: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
   Version: 23H2 (Version 10.0.22631.3447)
   OS build: 22631.3447

   NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

4. Camera Raw preferences in Bridge does not recognize GPU

   When I try to edit Camera Raw (v. 16.3.0) preferences from Bridge (v, 14.1.0) it does not recognise GPU in Performance. Works well from Photoshop (v.25.9.0, GPU is recognized).

   Please fix.

5. Option-dragging files doesn't work anymore

   Dragging files with option/alt-key pressed to other windows than Bridge's (e.g. Mac's Desktop or Finder windows) used to create a copy. Since a few updates, the green + cursor badge appears, but files are simply moved to the new location and deleted from their original location.

   I'm using Mac OS Sonoma and Bridge 14.1.1.274.

6. AppleScript does not work in Bridge 2023 and 2024

   en_US

   Until Adobe Bridge 2022, AppleScript was supported and "do javascript" commands could be executed. This allowed for integration, such as sending Finder selections directly to a scripting process in Bridge.

   However, since version 2023, AppleScript is no longer supported. There is no AppleScript dictionary sdef file in the application bundle, so there is no possibility for it to work. Even if the sdef is ported from 2022, it will not work.

   I have determined that this is a bug, as there seems to be no official information that AppleScript has been removed. It is an expected specification of Adobe Bridge to support AppleScript.

   Environment

   • macOS 12.6.7(Apple Silicon)
   • Adobe Bridge 2023(13.0.4), 2024(14.0.0)

7. Batch rename facility

   I use the batch rename facility in different folders, once I'm finished sorting through images. I have various presets saved depending on what job I'm working on.
   Please can we have the default set to number 1 when renumbering, or at least the option to set it always as 1. I don't want sequentially numbered images across different folders. I want to start each first image in a new folder to start at 0001. Not the last number that I finished with +1

8. JPGs and PNGs (on probably other formats) opening in MacOS Preview instead in Photoshop as set in preferences

   After updating Bridge to the newest version (14.1.0) images are now being opened in the default system app instead of Adobe Photoshop as set in Preferences > File type associations

9. Bridge 14.0.2.191 Keywords, Labels search don't work

   Search engine don't work with any criteria (labels, rating, keywords).
   If we have this ways to label the work, it sucks for not working. Anyone with the solution to this?

10. Bridge 14.0.3.200 is slow/laggy on OSX

    We have been running Bridge for a number of years at our photo studio. Over the past few months, Bridge has been running excessively slow. Tasks like sorting through thumbnails in Essentials view are laggy. Moving from one thumbnail to the next has a delay associated with it. We are running top-of-the-line Mac Studio workstations. We're not sure why the performance of Bridge has suffered recently, but we strongly urge Adobe to kindly look into this matter.

11. Bridge: file named "?.tiff" caused cache to error and exit on startup v14.0.4

    Folder opens fine initially, but the second open causes a crash with an error box but blank message.
    Holding down shift-option-command allowed me to clear the cache and open the folder, but the next startup crashes.
    By renaming the file from "?.tiff" to "unknown.tiff" I'm able to work around the problem, but this took a long time to debug because of the lack of an error message.

12. Slideshow stalls after three images

    Windows 11 23H2 (I9 CPU and Nvidia RTX A4500 GPU)
    Adobe Bridge 14.0.1.137

    Playing a slideshow fails to work correctly (halts completely on the third image) in the following circumstances:

    The selected images are from a collection (smart or not)
    Images are selected by choosing a higher level folder and using View>Show Items from Subfolders

    This is not dependent upon the file type - tested with JPEG, DNG and TIFF nor the number of images.
    Slide duration, Caption, type of fill (Centred, Scaled to Fit, Scaled to Fill) Transition Options and Transition Speed do not seem to affect this issue for better or worse.

    Note that there is no problem with the slideshow displaying correctly when the images are from a single folder, regardless of the number of images in that folder or their type.

13. Bridge painfully slow

    I'm constantly waiting while Bridge is spinning. This even happens for simple tasks like assigning a star rating to a photo. I used CS6 for years and never had any of these problems. Can I please go back!

    It also just deleted a bunch of my keywords from the list. How can this program have gotten so awful? I don't see any improvements over my old version, only problems.

16. Rendering with Adobe Bridge is Almost Fuzzy with a New MacBook Pro.

    With the past iterative versions of Adobe Bridge, rendering with images has become slightly fuzzy. Have not noticed this on other JPEG viewers with my Mac. Love the way Adobe bridge can render things fast, but it is so fuzzy. It makes me wonder about the quality of my images until I use other programs and see there are no issues. Have attempted numerous times to clear the cache as well as use hardware or software renderings. Nothing seems to change. Other programs seem to have no issues.

17. Bridge keeps regenerating cached thumbnails

    The later versions of Bridge keeps regenerating thumbnails every time the Bridge app window gets into focus. It has been like this for a while (used to be OK, not quite sure when this error was introduced). I have been hoping this would be fixed, but no luck so far.

    Here is a repeatable sequence that will show this problem:

    1) Select a smart collection in Bridge (workspace Filmstrip used)
    In my case the collection targets a folder with 13 sub-folders (looking for files with one or more stars) holding the following file types:

    .acr: 6 files
    .CR2: 6274 files
    .dng: 400 files
    .psd: 2415 files
    .xmp: 6274 files

    TOTAL: 15369 files

    2) Wait until things stabilize (no more activity generated by Bridge)

    3) Place any (other) program window on top of the Bridge window

    4) Observe that Bridge is still quiet

    5) Remove (like minimize) the window now on top so that the Bridge window is fully exposed

    6) Observe that Bridge now restarts generating thumbnails

    7) The generation goes on for a while and consumes considerable (computer) resources (slows any other operations down)

    8) When Bridge has finished, repeat: thumbnails are generated again ...

    My workflow involves going back between Bridge and Photoshop. While Bridge is working (again) on the thumbnails, my machine gets quite busy, saturating all 16 cores and 32 threads (100% CPU utilization), and it gets somewhat laggy. This happens of course quite frequently.

    The Bridge cache is located on my fastest disk, CORSAIR SSD Force MP600 Gen4 PCIex4 NVMe M.2. All the files mentioned are located on my SAMSUNG SSD MZ7L33T8HBNA-00A07 SATA disk.

    It is worth noting that it seems to be only the thumbnails for the .CR2 raw files (from Canon EOS 5D Mark III) that are being regenerated. See the linked screen recording for details:

18. Videos (MP4) made with DJI Pocket 3 are not recognized and thumbnailed in Adobe Bridge

    Videos (MP4, 3K, 1:1 format, but also 4k 16:9 format) made with DJI Pocket 3 are not recognized and thumbnailed.

    Instead only the standard app icon appears.

    All other MP4 by other cameras are recognized and thumbnailed

    Please add support for Pocket 3

    Issue was coming due to corruption in cache folder, resetting the cache resolved the issue for user.

    After updating Bridge today I can no longer rename a file by copying and pasting. If you highlight the file name by clicking on it and then try copying and pasting a new name, the highlight disappears and you are lift with original name. Am using Windows 11 Pro which is up to date, as of 23/02/2024.
