Bridge Photo Downloader
Using a Canon EOS 1DX Mk III camera, with Adobe Bridge v10.0.4.157, I am unable to download my images from a Sandisk 64gb CFExpress card via a Sandisk CFExpress card reader to an iMac Pro (macos Catalina) using my usual workflow of Bridge > Bridge Photo Downloader > Get Photos From Camera. The Downloader responds with 'No Device Found'.
I have confirmed the following:
The Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader does not recognise the CFExpress card in the Sandisk CFExpress card reader regardless of whether the card contains .CR3 or .CR2 files. Also, both .CR3 files and .CR2 files on a CFast card placed in a Lexar CFast card reader are downloaded by Bridge Photo Downloader. So the problem does not relate to the file type
.
The Sandisk CFExpress card reader hardware, with the CFExpress card inserted, is recognised by my computer (Applications >Utilities >System Information > Hardware >USB) as 'Sandisk SDDR-F451' which is also shown on the reverse side of the card reader. So the computer sees the CFExpress card reader. The CFExpress card appears in the Finder as a mounted disk (EOS_Digital). So the computer sees the CFExpress card.
With the the CFExpress card mounted in the Finder as an EOSDigital disk the images on the card are available (EOSDigital >DCIM >100EOS1D > _W1I0451.CR3 etc) and may be directly transferred by drag and drop onto the computer desktop or into an appropriate folder.
If the camera, containing the Sandisk CFExpress card is attached directly to the computer via a USB3.1 cable, the images on the card can be transferred using Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader into a pre- selected folder. So Adobe Bridge recognises the image files on the CFExpress card in the camera but not in the CFExpress Sandisk card reader.
In System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy both Bridge and Photoshop have Full Disk Access. With respect to the .CR3 images on the CFExpress card, File > Get Info > Sharing & Permissions shows that “You can read and write” but with the mounted EOSDigital disk in the Finder the permission is “You have custom access”. I have been unable to obtain a satisfactory definition of what this statement means. I have considered changing the access permission for EOSDigital to “Read and write” but I am unsure of the precise information to input into the Computer Terminal.
In Finder > Applications > Disk Utility, the SANDISK SDDR-F451 Media card reader is formatted with MAC OS Extended (Journaled) whereas the EOS_DGITAL card within the card reader is formatted with ExFat. Accordingly, I reformatted the card in Disk Utility to MAC OS Extended (Journaled). As anticipated the card did not function in this format. I reformatted it back to ExFat and the card again functions appropriately; but it still shows 'No Device Found' in Adobe Photo Downloader.
I have contacted Sandisk. Sandisk said:
”Thank you for the patience while checking this matter with our engineering team. Following the escalation of your case, I would like to reconfirm as I have informed before, that this is an issue with the software and not with the reader, as the reader is working, however not working in the software. In this case, please be so kind to contact Adobe for further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation and for your understanding, also for allowing us to be of service to you!”
I have asked the Bridge Support Community for help but the issue remains unresolved
As a result of this fault with the Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader, I am forced with each download manually to generate a new dated folder for the images. This is not satisfactory.
Why can't I use my card reader to download my images via Bridge Photo Downloader?

stack sharing
my company uses bridge and we sync our projects across onedrive. we have avoided stacking because it's not shared across all users, so we have used folders. We use linking (place linked) in photoshop and put our source images in a folder called "links" under the project folder. However, when duplicating templates to reference the file names, it doesn't work since, from what i can tell, it wants to find that specific location rather than treating the project directory as root (which, i believe would make linking better with photoshop and solve a lot of issues we have with linking). the solution that works with this issue is to have the source files in the same directory. using stacks acts as a virtual folder to keep things organized and when duplicating templates it's able to find the links and update them. however, there should be a settings file or something that would be synced that will tell bridge on other machines what should be stacked. this way, it's uniform across all users.
hope this makes sense
thanks!

not deleting
Video files deleted while open in a media player (VLC in my case) are showing as deleted in bridge but are not actually being removed from the physical folder on the hard drive. When I do a batch rename they reappear in Bridge as unnamed files.

Save Metadata
When I take a photo into Photoshop from Bridge and edit the file and then export it for web (Legacy) most of the metadata is lost. What I particularly want to keep is the date & time photo taken and the location.

Camera Raw
Please return to a version similar to the previous one.
I cannot stand scrolling up and down the right hand side bar.
I do not like Lightroom for this very reason.
At least make the panels customisable so I can put then where I want.11 votes -
Camera Raw
In general, i like the new camera raw better than the old one, if there weren't some major flaws which are very disturbing in my workflow...
zoom is not always "fit to screen" -when i crop it changes zooms out - but it doesn't jump back to "fit to screen". annoying.
the crop tool was way better in the old version - give people the choice to switch to the old version.
changing the aspect ratio of a picture while cropping - should be easier to reach via right click ..
the saving button in the thumbnails - is it possible to hide it .. when i choose the next picture i often click on it by accident. It is enough in the top right corner ...
the correction brush - it doesn't save settings from previous pictures /edits .. When i have to correct a row of similar pictures this is very annoying as well .. maybe there should be a check box with "save settings for further pictures"

Bridge do not longer open pic in Photoshop
If I use Bridge I want to dubble-click on images and open them up in Photoshop.
Ore in RAW if they are new.
This do not longer work after the latest updates.

Resizing bridge preview window every time i open it or switch machines that share my monitor.
Please make it stay the same size as when last opened. Having to slide the window pane over every time just seems dumb when on previous iterations it was no problem.
Also, please fix Premiere Pro so that the save as window can be placed closer to the still image button and have it stay there. Would be much better workflow and it was this way prior to the new edition.

Bridge v 110083 So slow it is virtually Unusable
Simply renaming a folder that contains 9 small files takes 10 times longer than it used to.
Everything is Ultra Slow, including simply opening Bridge and trying to view the Folder Hierarchy. Then, viewing the contents of folder feels like it will never happen. I get so frustrated waiting I go away and do something useful.
It's not likely to be an issue with my computer HP Z840 w 72Gb RAM and tons of 12Gb/sec SAS HDs for file storage. Plus older Bridge CS6 and non Adobe programs run very fast.

Substance Materials
It would be excellent if Bridge would "render" a preview of Substance materials (sbsar)

Revert to previous interface
How can I revert to the previous interface in Camera RAW?
The new one stacks all the edit items one above the other, and the panels don't close when a new one is selected. In no time you have a disorganised mess down the the RHS. You have to keep using the slider to get where you want to get to which is slower and inconvenient. Everything gets all cramped up and you have to close the panels yourself, rather than simply switching.
Previously you just clicked with the pen on a facitity (basic, detail colour etc). The panel opened, you used it, and then clicked on the next, one shut, the next one opened. You can't use more than one panel at a time anyway.
This is clumsy, slow and badly thought out.
Can we have a revert option in preferences please? How can I revert to the previous interface in Camera RAW?

Make this flickering and weird flashing of images during fullscreen previews stop GOD DAMNIT.
The flickering during fullscreen preview mode is unbearable! As soon as I start to rate or reject a single image, sometimes after looking through a few images, the screen starts flickering. As far as I'm concerned Adobe is well aware of this issue but doesn't fix it. Affected are Apple desktop machines and MacBooks not only the latest generation.

Customize Keysettings
There should be an option to customize the shortcuts on the keyboard like in the other Adobe Programs. The main reason for me is actually "cmd + z". Elsewhere you're going one step backwards but in Bridge its changing the Viewport.

Add the facility to use dual monitors.
Using Zoom so the slideshow can be used on one monitor and be shared and the controls etc. on another monitor for scoring etc.
With the closedown of camera clubs and photo societies, Zoom is being used more and more.2 votes
