Thumbnail Boxes
The darker boxes around each and every thumbnail image, omg, get rid of those or at least make it optional. Its just awful. I am told on the forum "The dark grey boxes around assets in content panel is designed for better view of assets." Thats a hell of a thing to assume, it makes me want to scratch my eyes out. Hi,
This feature has been released in Bridge v10.0.
In the Content Panel, there is a check box “Show Tiles” which can be unchecked to remove the Thumbnail boxes.
Thanks,

OMG yes - plus the highlighted star ratings showing whilst you have a file selected is SOOOOO unnecessary! Just show the rating as it exists for each file! To show up a whole row of "possible" stars is soooooo messy and in the way!

I am just noticing what what one of the commenters pointed out below—with tiles off, folder names are both distant from the folders (because they are in the spot where they would be if the tiles were on) and left aligned. Short folder names look bizarre.
This is barely better than 2019—but installing it has broken my old copy of 2018 (keyboard shortcut for applying stars doesn't work) so I have no choice but it live with it. :-(

Thank you very much for this in Bridge 2020!

Adding to my comment from yesterday: the wasted space in Bridge 2020 is even worse than I thought. If you unselect "thumbnails only" in order to see filename and rating, it spaces the filename and rating as if the the tile is there, leading to a huge space underneath each photo. PLEASE give an option to just return to the 2018 arrangement.

I have installed the new Bridge 2020 and was excited to see the option to hide the tiles. But the space between the thumbnail is about twice as big, so still lots of wasted space. Please restore the 2018 look or make that space adjustable.

Shouldn't you start new topic for this issue, however I'm with you ;)

The new feature is welcome, but has one drawback. If the tiles are hidden, then the left aligned text looks absolutely terrible when viewing lager directories. Make the text center aligned, which it was until Bridge 2017.
Here is what I mean

Save yourself the trouble and just put it back the way it was.
I've been using Adobe product since Ps 5.5, turn of the century. This is the first time I loaded the latest and had to revert to older version bc the new version is so bad, Br Id and Ps. Lr I never update for at least 6 months after the update comes out. I've learn to never ever delete old versions. I've lost a lot of faith in adobe since they started the hostage program, er I mean subscription program. Sad!

Sadly no new option to remove these boxes in CC2019 v9.1 ;-((
Please change it!! -

Yes: it's a waste of space. And I also agree with the earlier comment that a black background is better than the darkest grey available.

Wootie, I think we should have choise for light / dark boxes. I like dark than grey / white colours. For example it's how it's done in Photoshop regarding Theme colour. So here that should be optionable, but not that we have no choise. So I don't completetly agree, however I did with you in other theard:

Totally agree. What a terrible update idea. There are two sets of negative space around thumbnails now. How bout the option for no negative space whatsoever between the thumbnail images. A separate size slider for negative space between the thumbnail panel. Then give the option for NO dark boxes. Who the heck asked for dark boxes? Unbelievable.
