This is a new issue which has arisen since the bug fix released for curing Photo Downloader not remembering user preferences. At least preferences are now remembered, but this issue is very problematic for many users and can only be circumvented by extra steps taken by the user to rename files ofter the download process, such as a batch rename.

I continue to experience the same symptoms as described by Levin.
The only partial cure I have been using for ages is to have the Bridge CC 2019 AppData folder present.
This is partial in that, while most settings are then saved and remembered, the location defaults to "Pictures" which is not my default choice.
I also frequently experience a crash when trying to select my desired download location.

I see the same behaviour. Now using Bridge 2021 but still require folder Bridge CC 2019 to exist for Photo Downloader to function correctly.

We seem to be going around in circles with this issue!
With Bridge CC 2019 a reported fix was to have your old Bridge 2018 CC AppData folders still present, at least for Windows users. This was because Bridge CC 2019 was attempting to save settings in Bridge CC 2018 folders.

Then the problem was fixed with the release of version 9.1.0.338.

I just installed Bridge 2020 and the problem is back again!
...and analogously, if your old Bridge CC 2019 AppData folders are kept, then this stops the issue occurring. Without these folders settings are not kept.
So we appear to have exactly the same issue - Bridge 2020 is trying to save settings in the wrong folders i.e. Bridge CC 2019 folders.

Version 9.1.0.338 appears to have addressed this issue.
I installed this latest update two days ago and all works as it should now.

Although we are talking about Bridge CC 2019, it appears that Bridge is attempting to save settings for the photo downloader in Bridge CC 2018 folder which is likely missing from your system.
Refer to this thread for a simple effective solution:

Latest Bridge update to version 9.0.2.219 has still not adressed this issue.
    Irritating is a gross understatement.

I have the same issue. None of the settings stick like they did in previous Bridge versions so each time the Photo Downloader is used all required settings must be selected again.
