Double click works on a single file. Opening multiple files (panos, HDR) has to be opened in PS. Otherwise the error message reported here appears.

I get the same with XQD cards. The error dialog also displays the drive letter of the USB connected reader (e.g. I: Application not found), suggesting that Windows is looking for the downloader on the reader. I think this might be an error in the Windows registry entry for AUTOPLAY memory cards.

The Windows registry has an entry for bridgeproxy.exe which does not exist on my PC. Rather my PC has apdproxy.exe in the photodownloader folder. Could this be the answer?

Bridge 15.01.412 - but continuing from previous releases. In Bridge, this message appears when choosing to edit camera raw preferences from the menu or right clicking on 1 or more images and choosing 'Edit in Camera Raw'. However, single or multiple images can be opened in Camera Raw by double clicking.
