The upcoming release of Bridge has this capability in some form.
We can now open multiple content panels and place them side by side to view files from both the folder side by side. By increasing the size of the content panels thumbnail, we can do large size preview comparison.

The upcoming version of Bridge has the support for Multiple Content Panels
Install the Beta version of Bridge to try it out.
