Same thing happening for me and have tried this with no luck - still freezing. [2018 MacBook Pro 15" i9 32Gb Ram]
Tried: When you are dragging and dropping the files, is thumbnail or preview generation going on for the folder. You can check this on bottom left corner of Bridge window. Allow Bridge to generate all the thumbnails and previews to have a smoother experience. Please let us know if you are still facing this issue after doing this.
